Is the Ajax scriptmanager supposed to be visually seen on the page it is added to or not.

My scriptmanager is visible in both the design and source views. In the design view, it looks similar to the box for a sqldatasource. So I would say if you can't see the scriptmanager it is unexpected behavior. Maybe others can weigh in on what is happening.

Just two days back, i used to see it in design view. Today i cant see it though it still does the work it is supposed to do on my pages and i cant remember any property i changed. Its strange and i would not be suprised if i find my pages not running tommorrow.

Ever since i installed Ajax, i have exprienced strange behaviours and iam sure this is not the end. May be there is some thing iam doing wrong, microsoft knows.

Like i just mentioned that i expect more trouble here it is.

Every control i have on a page (label, textbox, updatepanel, linkbutton, whatever, etc) is being underlined in the markup and when i hover the mouse over the underlined controls, the error message is the same but the page still runs. Possible after 2 hours the pages may even stop running(viewed in the browser).

Below is the error on all controls.

Element "element_name" is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the website.
