Installing "Atlas" in Windows Vista RC1

I just tried installing Atlas on Windows Vista RC1. When it gets to the installing templates part, it errors out, but completes the rest of the installation. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to correct it?? It's not really a problem, just kind of annoying.

Thanks,

Matt

Me too.

The template of C# cannot be installed though the template of VB can be installed. I want to know the method of evading this problem.

Thanks,

N0MURA

hello.

well, i did this:

1. go to c:\widows

2. run explorer.exe as an administrator

3. in the new explorer window which opens, go to the installation folder and run the installer.

This did not seem to work. It did the exact same thing that happened the last time.

-Matt

I have the same problem here ... this is very strange!!!!

the Atlas instalation say that need to register an extention in the IIS, but we don't need to have the IIS to develop with VS2005. That must be the problem.

Hope this helps.

Paulo Aboim Pinto

I was able to get it installed by turning off UAC (user access control).

Intellisense in AJAX RC1

I've had this problem is I moved to AJAX Beta 1 but my intellisense is broke and it's driving me crazy. When is this supposed to be fixed?

Hi,

there's an intellisense tip inthis blog entry by Scott Guthrie.

VS2005 SP1 fixes this problem.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/support/vs2005sp1/default.aspx

Hello autoflyer,

autoflyer:

VS2005 SP1 fixes this problem.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/support/vs2005sp1/default.aspx

is this Problem fixed in youre installation?

I've installed both vs2005sp1 and AJAX RC1 but the intellisense works only with the opened masterpage or change the tagprefix away from "asp". I also cleaned up my [ReflectedSchemas] folder like Scott says inthis Blog.

Hi,

I use VS2005 Pro and the intellisense problem I experienced with AJAX tags in content pages is indeed fixed with SP1 for me. I have applied SP1 to 2 machines at work both of which no longer exhibit the intellisense problem.

Invoking WCF web services from client script with MS Ajax RC1

Hello,

I've read through the Ajax documentation which shows some examples of invoking .asmx web services from client code but I couldn't find any information about doing the same with .svc WCF web services. Is this supported in the current Release Candidate of Ajax? If not, is this planned for future releases?

Thanks for your time.

No, svc is not currently supported. However it will be supported in upcoming "Orcas" release. Read ithere and search for "Support for WCF Web Services"

I'm intested by calling a wcf services with ajax

could anyone tell me which version of ajax let me use .svc files and how ? sinc the docs on the web are gone ..

thanks in advance :)

Is it a bug? you can try it.

I found a problem in Web Service when I use Asp.Net Ajax rc1.
runhttp://localhost/Website1/WebService1.asmx, Call SetValue() , then GetValue(). You will find an exception.
That's too strange. why is NHibernate?

using System.Web.Script.Services;
using NHibernate;
using NHibernate.Cfg;

[ScriptService]
public class WebService1 : System.Web.Services.WebService
{
[WebMethod(EnableSession = true)]
public void SetValue(string value)
{
// If I run it here, the Session["SESSION1"] in GetValue() will return null;
NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration _cfg = new NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration();

Session["SESSION1"] = value;
}

[WebMethod(EnableSession = true)]
public string GetValue()
{
return Session["SESSION1"].ToString();
}
}

web.config:
<httpHandlers>
<remove verb="*" path="*.asmx"/>
<add verb="*" path="*.asmx" validate="false" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35"/>
</httpHandlers>

Do you mean to say if you include the NHibernate line, Session["Session1"] returns null? What happens if you remove that line? Also are you sure that you are accessing the session variable after you have set it?
Yes, if I remove that NHibernate line, all the things are working well. I tried it many times.
I can't use NHibernate in Asp.Net Ajax? I am almost crazy these days.
I've found why the session will be lost. I have a global.asa file. And I write:
void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
log4net.Config.DOMConfigurator.Configure();
}
and each time I call web method, the application will restart ( seems in compiling again ). That's why the session will be cleaned.

But I still don't know why the Application will restart each time? And if I delete that line in Application_Start, everything works well.

I am using Visual Web Developer 2005, and the solution will not compile to a dll.

hello.

just a guess: does the configure methodf loads the config fromthe web.config file? if so, try changing it to an external file (i'm thinking that maybe it may be changing the web.config file while it reads it and this will definitly restart your web app).

No, I didn't change web.config file while I call these 2 method.
I am using visual web develop 2005 express. and all the code wouldn't be compiled to a dll, so I don't know when the code will be compiled if I call a web service method.
